Hello- I'm Norma and my plan is to bring you up todate on all that has been happening this past year since I'm sure you have noticed the date on the last entry...and a lot has been happened.
You will see I have put the pictures before the blog because I don't know for sure what I'm doing. Also Rita's "Sunflower" is posted sideways. sorry Rita.
So here goes.....
The more recent bit of news is.....I just entered in my first ever my Quilt Show. The Quilt Show was put on by the CarsonValley Quilt Guild, Minden, NV. http.//www.cvqg.com. There were several of us from Fabric Chicks, who decided at the last minute to enter quilts or wall hangings in the show. By last minute I mean...the deadline is coming right up and.....??? We had to take pictures, fill out paperwork, join the guild, get sleeves sewn on the backs and "are you kidding me" they want labels sewn on too, by when? Beth won a "Third Place" for her hand appliqued "Baltimore" quilt she started when she was a wee young'un and finished just before the quilt show.
We did get everything done. We managed to get them devoid of threads, lint, etc. and to the drop off point on time. We were able to enter three items, judged or non-judged per person. The prize money was $20,000.00 for several categories, only the judged categories were eligible for the prize money.
I would have worried a lot more when I was taking the class for the "Poppy" had I known it was destined for the show and I would have enjoyed it less I'm sure. The "Poppy" class was taught by Donna Greenwald, a renowned Fiber Arts and Thread Painting Instructor.
Donna is scheduled into the shop as often as her busy schedule will allow and that will be five times this year. The "Poppy" class was the first of her classes I have taken. I have taken four of her classes so far. The classes really fill up quickly.
I have included pictures taken at the Carson Valley Quilt Guild Show "My Favorite Things". I hope you enjoyed seeing them.....did I mention I WON a "First Place" prize for the "Poppy"? I promise it won't be very long before you hear from me again as I have lots of things to tell you...until next time..Norma
