Puyallup Sewing Conference

IMG_2607Off we go.  Cherri Sue Schachterle and I head up to Puyallup Sewing Conference.  I couldn't wait to see my friends.  The drive up wasn't bad at all.  I read out loud from the book "Light in the Wilderness" by Margaret Thomas.  Cherri and I are both reading it.

Here's what I got from Pamela Armas.  I showed her my doll and pages for Australia and immedialey she asked me to make one for her in exchange for her marvelous goodies.  I can't lose with a trade like that.

Relief Society Dollar Store Challenge

IMG_2635The challenge was to decorate our tables with five dollars spent at The Dollar Store.  I bought two containers, and two packages of socks, three in each package..(got to know these are quality socks), some fake forsythia, black and white checked plastic, a red neckerchief and a plaid dish towel.

I was allowed to suppliment with stuff from home.  So flowers seemed a posibility and everyone could take one home...Yeah!

You Have Ribbons In Your Past

IMG_2627
IMG_2633My grandaughter, Charlotte, was just baptised and her daddy sent along a lovely announcement with her testimony and the lovliest picture. This inspired me to make this fan using several pictures of her 2nd great grandmother, her great grandmother, two 2nd great aunts and a couple of great grandfathers.  I copied the pictures and used a plastic pattern

IMG_2628to cut the photos into ovals and circles.and glued them onto heavy water color paper.  I painted embellishments on the water color paper and then laminated them and put them together with a large brad or split pin.  Then I used a punch to weave some silk ribbon through all four fan sections.

It's gone off to Charlotte and since a i put a self addred stamped envelope and a card, I hope to hear that it was a success.

Elder Cady and The Olive Garden

IMG_2622
IMG_2623This the face of a Mormon Missionary in his personal Heaven, Olive Garden.  We are celebrating his birthday at his favorite restaurant, not mine by the way.  Elder Cady and his companion, Elder Parker, depend on the ward to keep them fed.  It takes a village.

 I just love their enthusiasm.

Now Take Me Home

 251

250Here are my Lukie birds hopping to Nebraska for the Group Challenge of Fiber Fanatics.  Everyone was given 12" of woven plastic tubing.  I pulled apart one end of the tubing and thought "tree" in the jungle with a Lukie Bird perched on top feeling the breeze.  I am loving those silly birds, but I may be over having to make more, unless of course I make them three dimentional.  Hummm

Take them home Roxanne and see what the gals think.

The Big 4 0--Happy Birthday, Maureen!!!!!

271Christian was the most romantic of husbands.  He helped plan the party, gave the lady an I PAD. and even wrapped it...with Duct tape.  There's the man!

The Marketplace

041The gal who owns this place was once a vendor at Camas Antiques and she loves the look, so it is fun to hit this store and see what she's doing.  The blend of the old and the old looking can be charming.  Both Dianne and Roxann loved what we saw.

You can not beat orange.  All these ribbons and hanging things and patterns.  I know, I know: Who is going to dust it?

Scrap.....Can We Have One Of These In Lincoln?

022So we had to go to Scrap.  You keep all your plastic medication caps right?

Spare parts that could look like this.  How sweet is this?  What have I thrown out?

024I love the boutique.  Something reorganized.

I bought bags of monocromatic scraps of paper because I need them.

027Roxann thought she should find out how to open one of these places in Lincoln, so she got one of each flyer.

028Here's a window that looked as if it could be done again at The Udder Store.  The idea was in the window of a yarn store in Portland.  Roxann went inside and took a picture of how it was done.
