The Columbia River Gorge is truely one of the lovliest places on earth. The view goes on forever. Here we are at the Vista House which was built in the early 1900's. The scenic highway which traverses the Gorge was dedicated in 1916. The walls were constructed by imported Italian artisans. We arrived and spent some time taking the view in. Then Elaine did a hour of demonstrating how she works. At this point, my camera battery forsook me. So what you have here is only a very small portion of what we experienced.
Elaine took us to a park where she led us in a meditaition, then contour drawing and finally another demo which covered the rendering of a tiny bit of flora. That was amazing and we all saw more because of it.
The windows are very restrained but that was the artistic taste of the time. My personal favorite is the spiral wall. A very ancient natural shape taking the eye inward. Sorry about the camera. There should have been more and trust me there was.
The Columbia River Gorge is just beautiful! Wow! The view is incredible. What a shame your battery gave out. I'm sure there were many photo ops but at least you can always go back!
