I have a love affair with Nebraska and particularly with The Cosmic Cow and The Udder Store. Both shops are owned by my dear friend, Roxanne Ohare and are located in Lincoln and Seward respectively. I love making things for these shops. Recently, I made two cows which have appeared on this blog. Here are a few other fun mixed media ideas.
I found a chair at Goodwill that was one of those bent wood doll chairs. I used masking tape, wire, fabric mache and a sardine can (I don't like sardines but the can was cool). I wrapped the chair with the tape and wire. Then I covered it with the fabric mache. The can was perfect for the face. The piece on the head is actually a puzzle piece from an old jigsaw puzzle which I collect. I am always on the look out for map puzzles. My sister and I were inundated by puzzles this Christmas as we find this a great way to cover the dining room table.
This neckless features 1940's patchwork and buttons made from gourd pieces. Roxanne loves gourds.
This is a tray made of cardboard from the 1940's covered with vintage papers and trims and modge podge. Don't you love it? It is fun to recycle old things into new. Why not give it a whirl and let me know what you do?

Love your new creations. I must make a stop in Seward on my next trip to Omaha.

Wow Mom! This is so cool. I also love the bowl with the face painted on it.
