My Granddaughter Ellie is getting married and that will be a banner day for her. She loves banners and wanted them for her day. I suggested lace to make them look as light as possible. I found a flat natural braid which made it easier to sew them in place. Elinor, (yes she is my name sake) found a lace doiley table runner on line and loved it, so that was our next challenge. I do believe between Bonnie Martin, my daughter Evalyn's stand in angel, Evalyn herself, me and Ellie's Aunt Colleen, we collected well over one hundred pieces. At first I thought we'd have to put toulle under each runner but then I figured how to stitch the doilies together with a sewing machine: much faster. In October, I have another dear granddaughter,Leigha, getting married I had fun drawing her engagement announcement. I really feel quite useful. I do adore love, romance, and weddings.
What a wonderful memory for you and your granddaughters...they are lucky brides!
